The 2026 Africa Development Conference will explore five critical thematic clusters that define Africa’s role in the emerging global order: Industrialization, Trade & Finance; Governance; Geopolitics; Climate & Energy; and Diaspora Creativity.
The engines of global growth. From advanced manufacturing and supply chains to capital markets and economic integration, this cluster examines how production, commerce, and finance drive prosperity and reshape societies.
This cluster examines the future of African trade and finance. It focuses on expanding intra-African commerce under the AfCFTA, strengthening financial systems, attracting responsible investment, and unlocking new capital flows to power the continent’s development ambitions.
The structures and institutions that guide collective life. This theme covers public policy, democratic processes, regulatory frameworks, leadership, and the evolving relationship between citizens and the state in an increasingly complex world.
Power, strategy, and international relations. We analyze great-power competition, diplomacy, alliances, trade tensions, and the shifting global order that defines security and influence on the world stage.
The defining challenge and opportunity of our era. This cluster addresses climate change, the energy transition, sustainability, renewable technologies, and the intersection of environmental imperatives with economic and geopolitical realities.
The vibrant innovation born from movement and cultural fusion. Highlighting the artistic, intellectual, and entrepreneurial contributions of diaspora communities — especially the African diaspora — this theme celebrates how migration sparks new forms of expression in art, music, design, performance, and beyond.
